Guides Calls to Obsidian

Call history to Obsidian

A note per person and per day in your vault, the calls as lines you can link to.

Steps

  1. Press “Connect” beside Phone Calls on Exporter’s home and press “Select This Folder” in the panel.
  2. Choose a folder inside your vault, like ~/Obsidian/Vault/Calls, and press “Use This Folder”.
  3. Connect Contacts too, so the notes carry names, and in Settings › Markdown pick wikilinks or standard links.
  4. Press “Sync Now”.

What you get

A note per person in contacts/ and a note per day in days/. The properties panel shows total_calls, answered, missed, incoming, outgoing and total_duration, so a Dataview or Bases table can list who you call most or the days you missed calls. Every call line ends with a block id, so your own notes can link to one call.

Pitfalls

  • A note is written again when a call comes in, so keep your own thoughts in a separate note that links to it.
  • Files are named by the number, so they stay put when a name changes in Contacts.
  • Phone calls appear when your iPhone shares its calls with this Mac; FaceTime calls are always there.

Every field is in the Phone Calls docs.
