Export your call history and voicemail

A file per person and per day, and every voicemail beside its audio with Apple's transcript, kept in sync on your Mac.

A person, as a file.

The front matter counts the calls, answered and missed, in and out, and the time on the phone. Then a line per call, newest first, each with its own block id to link to.

What comes out

Everything in calls-export: a file per person in contacts/, a file per day in days/, and your voicemail in voicemail/.

A file per person

Every call with them, newest first, and how many calls, how many missed and how long you talked, as properties.

A file per day

Every call that day, oldest first, with who it was, how long, and whether it was missed or a video call.

Voicemail with its words

Each voicemail as a note with Apple's transcript, its recording copied beside it, and linked from the call that left it.

Names from Contacts

With Contacts connected, files and lines carry the person's name. The files stay named by the number, so a new name never moves them.

Phone and FaceTime

The calls in your Mac's call history, phone and FaceTime, audio and video, answered and missed.

Only on your Mac

The call history and voicemail are read on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, and no account is needed.

How it works

  1. 1Connect Phone Calls

Pick the call history folder in the panel Exporter opens, so it may read your calls.

  2. 2Connect Voicemail

On the card's Voicemail tab, press Connect and pick FaceTime's folder, where your Mac keeps voicemail.

  3. 3It syncs

Your calls arrive as files, and new calls and voicemails follow as they come in.

Questions

Still have questions? Get in touch

What does it cost?
Your 50 most recent calls are free, with their voicemails. Unlock Phone Calls is one purchase for every call.
Which calls are there?
The ones in your Mac's call history: FaceTime calls, and the phone calls your iPhone shares with this Mac.
Do I get the voicemail transcripts?
Yes, the transcript Apple made for each voicemail, with how sure Apple was when it says. A voicemail with no transcript says so.
Are recorded calls in Apple Notes covered?
Those live in Notes: the Apple Notes export writes a recorded call's transcript under its audio.
Does anything leave my Mac?
No. The call history and voicemail are read on your Mac, and the files stay in the folder you choose.
Can I use the files in Obsidian or Claude?
Yes. They are plain Markdown with front matter: pick a folder inside your Obsidian vault, or point Claude Code at the folder.

Against the alternatives

The Phone and FaceTime apps show your recent calls and play voicemail one at a time; neither exports them.
