Exporter

Your notes are trapped.
Let's get them out.

Exporter reads Apple Notes, Messages, Contacts, Screen Time, Bear and Logseq live off your Mac and hands them back as plain Markdown, yours to keep, in any app, ready for any agent.

The apps Exporter reads.

Exporter reads each app's data where the app keeps it on your Mac, and updates the files as you keep using the app.

getting started

Start on your own or with your agent.

You need the app and a folder. An agent also needs the command line and the MCP server.

for you
  1. 1Get Exporter

    From the Mac App Store. macOS 15 or later, no account.

  2. 2Open it and pick a folder

    Connect the apps you want. For each one a panel opens in the app's folder: press Select this folder. Then choose an export folder.

  3. 3Export free

    Each app has a free allowance: 100 notes, 100 contacts, your 10 most recent conversations, 10 days of Screen Time, 10 documents. Bear and Logseq have no limit. What you export keeps syncing free.

  4. 4Unlock an app once

    To export everything from an app, unlock it in Exporter with a one-time purchase.

  5. 5Use it

    The files update as you use the apps. Open them in Obsidian or any editor.

for your agent · Terminal
  1. 1Install the skills

    Five skills teach an agent to export, back up and search with Exporter.

    $ npx skills add https://exporter.dev
  2. 2Install the command line

    The app is sandboxed, so you paste one line in Terminal once, from "copy install command" on the Command Line card. Then the agent can check what is connected.

    $ exporter status --json
  3. 3Connect Claude

    For Claude Code, run the command below. Cursor and VS Code connect from buttons on the app's MCP Server card; the claude desktop button copies an entry for Claude's config.

    $ claude mcp add --transport http exporter http://localhost:8744/mcp
  4. 4Ask

    “Find my notes about the kitchen renovation and summarize where we landed.”

for your agent

Claude can search your exports.

Exporter runs a local MCP server, so Claude can search your exported notes, messages and contacts on your Mac. Set it up.
