Back up Notion
Every shared page and database as files on your Mac, images included, kept current.
Steps
- Press “Connect” beside Notion under Cloud on Exporter’s home and sign in with Apple. On Notion’s page in your browser, pick your top pages, so everything under them comes too, and allow access.
- Choose where the backup goes, like
~/Documents/notion, and press “Use This Folder”. - Leave every page and database ticked and press “Sync Now”.
- Optional, for dated copies: install the command line from its card, grant
~/Backupsunder “Export Destinations”, and runexporter export --source notion --dest ~/Backups/notion-$(date +%F).
What you get
~/Documents/notion/notion-export/

Write the plan.md
Plain Markdown that any editor opens, with a CSV of each database that any spreadsheet opens. Images and files Notion hosts are copied beside their pages, so the backup does not depend on Notion’s links, which expire. Time Machine and your cloud drive back the folder up with the rest of your Mac.
Pitfalls
- The folder follows Notion: a page you delete in Notion leaves it within minutes. Dated copies keep what the mirror drops.
- Only shared pages are backed up. Share a new top page with the exporter.dev connection from its ⋯ menu in Notion.
- The first 7 days are free; then Exporter Cloud is a subscription. When it ends, syncing stops and the files stay.
Every field is in the Notion docs.
