Keep Linear issues in Obsidian
Your workspace as notes in your vault, with Linear's fields as properties.
Steps
- Press “Connect” beside Linear under Cloud on Exporter’s home, sign in with Apple, and press “Authorize” on Linear’s page in your browser.
- Choose a folder inside your vault, like
~/Documents/Vault/Linear, and press “Use This Folder”. A folder inside a vault is used as it is. - Untick what you don’t want on the pick page: issues, projects or documents.
- Press “Sync Now”. From then on, a change in Linear reaches the note within a minute.

Obsidian shows the front matter as properties: the state, priority, assignee, labels, project and dates. Filter by them in a base or a query, link an issue from a meeting note with its name, and search the comments with the rest of your vault. The source_url property opens the issue in Linear.
Pitfalls
- The notes are read only in effect: an edit in Obsidian is replaced at the next change in Linear. Write your own notes beside them, not in them.
- An issue you archive or delete in Linear loses its note. Keep what must stay in a note of your own.
- The first 7 days are free; then Exporter Cloud is a subscription, and when it ends the notes stay where they are.
Every field is in the Linear docs.
