# Voice Memos to Obsidian

Each recording as a note in your vault, the audio playing inside it and its words below.

## Steps

1. On macOS 27, press "Connect" beside Voice Memos on Exporter's home and press "Select This Folder" in the panel.
2. Choose a folder inside your vault, like `~/Obsidian/Vault/Voice Memos`, and press "Use This Folder".
3. In Options…, set Transcribe In to the language you speak, and in Settings › Markdown pick wikilinks or standard links for the audio.
4. Press "Sync Now".

## What you get

A note per recording with the audio embedded, so it plays in the note, and its transcript under `## Transcript`. The properties panel shows `duration`, `transcript`, `transcript_language` and `transcript_confidence`, so a Dataview or Bases table can list the recordings your Mac transcribed, or the ones it was least sure of. `index.md` lists every recording with a Play link.

## Pitfalls

- The audio takes room in the vault: each recording is copied once, beside its note.
- A note is written again when Voice Memos changes the recording or a transcript lands, so edit your own thoughts in a separate note that links to it.
- New recordings from your iPhone arrive once Voice Memos has them on your Mac.
